LABORATORY DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT

Integrated laboratory engineering from Basic Design to lifecycle maintenance

PT Wira Eka Bhakti supports research-facility development as an integrated engineering and project-delivery process - translating scientific requirements into safe, coordinated, buildable and maintainable laboratory infrastructure.

END-TO-END LABORATORY DELIVERY

Complete project scope

The laboratory scope is structured as one continuous lifecycle so design decisions remain aligned with construction, commissioning, validation and long-term operations.

PROJECT LIFECYCLE

From requirement definition to operational readiness

01

User Requirements & Basic Design

Define research activities, user requirements, capacity, risk profile, room program, adjacency, zoning and the basis of design. Establish personnel, material, sample, animal and waste flows before detailed engineering begins.

02

Concept & Biosafety Engineering

Develop clean/dirty zoning, access strategy, pressure relationships, containment concept, decontamination approach, equipment zoning and preliminary utility requirements. Coordinate biosafety, workflow, ergonomics and maintainability from the outset.

03

Detailed Engineering Design (DED)

Produce coordinated architectural, structural and MEP drawings; HVAC and pressure cascade design; electrical and backup power; plumbing and laboratory gases; BMS/controls; security/access; waste and effluent interfaces; equipment layouts; specifications and BOQ.

04

Procurement & Technical Coordination

Prepare technical specifications, evaluate equipment and specialist systems, coordinate vendor data and interfaces, review shop drawings and ensure utilities, space, access and structural provisions are aligned before installation.

05

Construction & Installation

Execute or coordinate architectural works, specialist laboratory finishes, MEP systems, containment interfaces and equipment installation with controlled quality, safety, cleanliness and document management throughout construction.

06

Testing, Commissioning & Validation

Perform pre-commissioning, TAB, functional testing, pressure verification, control-system checks, equipment testing and integrated system verification. Support validation, certification readiness and punch-list closeout.

07

Handover, SOP & Training

Deliver as-built documentation, asset registers, operating procedures, maintenance requirements and operator training so the facility can transition from project delivery to safe and repeatable operations.

08

Maintenance & Lifecycle Support

Support preventive and corrective maintenance, calibration, filter and containment integrity checks, HVAC/BMS performance, equipment servicing, spare-part planning and periodic recertification or revalidation requirements.

MULTI-DISCIPLINARY ENGINEERING

Engineering disciplines coordinated in one design

Laboratory performance depends on interfaces between architecture, MEP, biosafety, equipment, utilities and operations. WEB coordinates those interfaces from the earliest design stage.

01

Laboratory programming, adjacency, room data sheets and controlled circulation

02

Biosafety zoning, personnel/material/animal/sample/waste flows and access control

03

HVAC, pressure cascade, filtration, exhaust strategy, temperature and humidity control

04

Electrical, UPS/emergency power, grounding, lighting and equipment power coordination

05

Plumbing, purified water, laboratory gases, drainage, decontamination and effluent interfaces

06

BMS/monitoring, alarms, interlocks, security, CCTV and facility control systems

07

Laboratory furniture, biosafety cabinets, sterilization equipment and scientific equipment integration

08

Testing, commissioning, validation documentation, as-built records and maintenance planning

BRIN EXPERIENCE

Selected BRIN laboratory experience

WEB experience covers advanced animal biosafety, ancient DNA, plant research and infectious-disease laboratory environments at BRIN.

LIFECYCLE SUPPORT

Maintenance and lifecycle support

Maintainability is addressed from the design stage. Lifecycle support can include HVAC and pressure-control systems, filters and containment integrity, BSCs, autoclaves and decontamination systems, BMS/alarms, laboratory utilities, scientific equipment interfaces, preventive maintenance planning, calibration, spare parts and periodic validation or certification support.

DESIGN BASIS

Design philosophy

Each project is developed against the applicable owner requirements, biosafety objectives, Indonesian regulations and the relevant international references specified for the project. Final criteria are confirmed in the approved basis of design, DED and commissioning/validation documents.
